    Delphi Project Foundation Debuts Summer Dance Camp

    June 2018 -- Delphi Project Foundation's first Delphi Summer Dance Camp was a tremendous success! The Camp was held from June 25th to 29th at the Pennsylvania Ballet's Studios. The Camp was open to 5th-8th grade students who participated in Let's Dance!, and 9th-10th grade students interested in pursuing dance in an advanced capacity. Students received daily instruction in Ballet, Modern, Salsa, and African Dance. The program was taught by instructors from the University of The Arts, School District of Philadelphia, Pa Ballet and other dance professionals. The Camp not only offered intensive dance instruction, but introduced middle school students to opportunities at the high school level, and high school students to university and professional level instructors.

    Zoo CREW Visits the Philadelphia Museum of Art

    September 2017 -- Zoo CREW students toured the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Wild: Michael Nichols Exhibition. Wild features the work of legendary photograher Michael Nichols: artist, technical innovator, and ardent advocate for preserving natural habitats. Nichols stunning photographs, from some of the most remote areas of the world, offer intense confrontations with the power and fragility of animals in the wild. Zoo CREW students also explored the Museum's permanent collection.

    Delphi Summer Film Program Screening and Celebration

    August 2017 -- The Delphi Summer Teen Media Program concluded with a film screening and celebration. For the past 6 weeks, 20 high school students have experienced all aspects of filmmaking from "script to screen". Students created screenplays, storyboards and learned the technical skills of filming and editing. They have developed a portfolio of short films written by, filmed by and starring the students.

    100% of Zoo CREW Students Off to College

    August 2017 -- Congratulations to the 2017 Zoo CREW Graduates! 100% of these outstanding students are off to college. Zoo CREW offers students the opportunity to earn college scholarships. $12,500 in scholarhips were awarded to 3 explemplary students. Best of Luck!

    Delphi Film Students Visit NBC10 Studios

    July 2017 -- The Delphi Summer Teen Media students spent an amazing day at NBC10 Studios. They toured the studios and sat in on Via Sikahema's 11 am news broadcast. Rik Harris, President of NBC10 and Anzio Williams, VP of News, spoke to the students about how NBC10 finds, edits and presents news, as well as the path to a career in broadcast news. The highlight of the day was the students' annual "pitch" of their group film to a panel of industry professionals. The panel provides professional guidance on how to move forward with creating their films.

    The Critics LOVED Delphi Student Ballet Performance

    March 2017 -- Delphi Accent on Dance culminated with a student dance performance, to a standing room only audience, at the Prince Theater.  Since October, 180 students from 5 schools have been attending after-school classes learning Ballet, Latin Ballroom, Contemporary and African Dance. A select group of students worked with a writing coach and gave spoken word performances. This year, PA Ballet II also performed. The show was a smashing success and a wonderful opportunity for the students to shine. The Critics agreed!

    Delphi After School Art Club Partners with The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA)

    May 2016 -- For this year's community service project, Delphi After School Art Club students worked with older adult members of the PCA. For 6 weeks of programming, olders adults attended Art Club classes and participated in Museum gallery tours, art discussions and art making with the students. The participants explored works of art in the galleries focused on the theme of Then and Now, to spur conversations about the similiarites and differences of pasttimes, fashion, and activities, etc., between the generations. These conversations and experiences where translated into collaborative tapestries made of woven canvas strips that represent items of the past and present. The Then and Now tapestries were exhibited at Philadelphia City Hall as part of the PCA's Celebration of Art and Aging Annual Art Exhibition. The students and adults came together at City Hall to celebrate the exhibition.

    Delphi 2016 Zoo CREW Graduates Earn $41,250 in College Scholarships

    August 2016 -- Congratulations and best of luck to the 2016 Zoo CREW Graduates!  Zoo CREW is an intensive 3-4 year high school level program, which includes field trips, educational workshops and unique experiences working in various areas of the Zoo. The program is a solid formula for academic success --100% of the participants graduated high school and 100% are heading to college. Through Zoo CREW, 9 of the 13 graduates were financially eligible and earned $41,250 in college scholarships!

    Delphi Summer Teen Media Student wins Visionary Award at Film Festival

    June 2016 -- Mariah Harper, a student from the Delphi Summer Teen Film Program, received the Visionary Award at the Mashed Media Awards at The Kimmel Center. Her film "Breathless", which she created in the 2015 Delphi Program, received the top award among over 80 films that were submitted for review. The Mashed Media Awards is a regional competition that honors youth who make innovative, outstanding digital media to artistically illustrate youth perspective in our communities. 

    Delphi Accent on Dance students performance at the Prince Music Theater

    March 2016 -- Delphi Accent on Dance students recently performed their annual culminating performance to a standing-room-only audience at the world renowned Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia. The show, Dream Big and Dance, was a smashing success and featured student dance performances and poetry inspired by Philadelphia's rich cultural history. Students from five Philadelphia public schools participated in the program which included after school dance classes, attendance at PA Ballet performances and studio rehearsals, writing workshops and customized tours at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.     The Delphi Accent on Dance Program Celebrates its 19th Year with Student Performance

    March 2015 -- Over 400 students in The Delphi Accent on Dance Program performed at the Painted Bride in a show filled with dance, instrumental music, original poetry and visual artwork. Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown attended the show and congratulated the students with her inspiring comments. Students from four Philadelphia schools attended after school classes over the last six months to prepare for the performance. Students in the program participate in after school dance classes, attend PA Ballet dress rehearsal performances and studio rehearsals, tour the Philadelphia Museum of Art and participate in writing workshops. This year, students from The Delphi After School Art Club created the backdrops for the performance. Click on this video to see the impact of this year's program.

    Delphi Project Foundation honored at PA Ballet Gala

    October 2014 -- PA Ballet honored Delphi Project Foundation at its 51st Annual Gala at the Union League in Philadelphia on October 2, 2014. PA Ballet celebrated Delphi Project Foundation's 18-year support of the Delphi Accent on Dance Program. The Program provides after-school dance instruction in ballet, Latin/ballroom dance, and jazz to students from four Philadelphia middle schools. The Program includes dance classes, student performances, and attendance at PA Ballet dress rehearsals and live performances. Please view this documentary video to learn more about the Program.

    Zoo CREW takes 4 day environmental excursion to Virginia Tech

    August 2014 -- Zoo CREW students spent 4 days at Virginia Tech working with PhD and undergrad students to learn about lab research, tiger and rhino handling in Nepal, coyote scat analysis, and Madagascar research. The students visited the Virginia Tech Black Bear Research Center, skyped with a field biologist in Austria, and took an excursion to the Mountain Lake Biological Station. The students not only had an amazing educational experience, they obtained priceless career advice.  One student expressed her appreciation by saying "I want to thank Dr. Marcella Kelly and her entire team for giving us a look inside their amazing lives and jobs....Thank you for opening up my horizon...My future looks brighter and more exciting because of all of you!"

    Zoo CREW graduates earn college scholarships

    June 2014 -- The Zoo CREW Program recently celebrated the graduation of 8 students and awarded $38,000 in college scholarships. Zoo CREW awards college scholarships to students who successfully complete the rigorous 3-year program. Seven of the 8 students were accepted into colleges including Temple, Canisuis College, Florida Southern, Drew University, Millersville and Penn State. One student choose to serve her country in the Air Force Reserves. Two students were awarded additional $5,000 matching scholarships from Temple. Congratulations and best of luck to these outstanding students!

    Delphi Project Foundation on the CBS Evening News, students perform at the Painted Bride

    April 2014 -- The Delphi Accent on Dance Program, in partnership with Pennsylvania Ballet, held its culminating student performance at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia.  Students from four schools in Philadelphia showed off their dance moves in Ballet, Jazz and Latin Ballroom Dancing. The performance also featured original poetry inspired by dance. Students performed at a "standing-room-only" matinee and evening show. CBS Evening News anchor Jessica Dean was the honorary Emcee for the event. Jessica reported on the event on the CBS Philly Evening News. Check out her news coverage!     Delphi student art wins People's Choice Award at Philadelphia Flower Show

    March 2014 -- The Delphi After School Art Club partnered with "Flowers by David" and Fresh Artists to create a collaborative work of art that won a People's Choice Award at the Philadelphia Flower Show. The student art is integrated into the "Flowers by David" exhibit "Out on a Limb." The students created flower-filled prints, inspired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art collection, that were transcribed onto enormous banners that "drip" down onto the "Flowers by David" exhibit.  The exhibit not only won the People's Choice award for the opening day of the Flower Show, it was also awarded the overall People's Choice Award for the entire run of the Show!

    Delphi Project Grad wins "Project Runway"

    November 2013 -- The most recent winner of the fashion-design reality show "Project Runway" is a graduate of the Delphi Project Foundation's Junior Zoo Apprentice Program at the Philadelphia Zoo! Dominique "Dom" Streater graduated from the program in 2006 and went on to Moore College of Art. Her story is a great example of how early enrichment opportunities can lead to fantastic success as young adults.

    After-School Club Creates Art Inspired by Museum Collection

    April 2013 -- The Delphi After School Art Club is a weekly comprehensive arts education program held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Each year, up to 240 middle school level students in the School District of Philadelphia participate in the program.

    The students tour the Museum’s galleries and create their own works of art inspired by the Museum’s collection. In addition to weekly studio art classes and gallery tours, the program includes a student art exhibition, a cultural performance, conservation demonstrations, and a collaborative community art project. The Delphi Art Club focuses on both the creative and academic aspects of visual arts, and most importantly, provides students with a safe and inspiring place to gather after school.
